By Fire Chief John Nixon
January 22, 2019

The Fox River & Countryside Fire Rescue District residents were recipients of a very generous $10,000 donation for the purchase of a Defibtech Lifeline ARM mechanical CPR device at the district board meeting Monday evening January 21st. A community outreach group from the Christ Community Church in St. Charles made this donation possible after discussion with the church members about the potential benefit of this device to the community. Through their efforts and generosity, residents and visitors to the Fire District that may be stricken with cardiac arrest now have a much greater chance of survivability for a heart attack. The American Heart Association reminds us thatĀ uniform and consistent , high-quality chest compressions are essential to keep blood and oxygen flowing to the heart and brain. Using this device , firefighter paramedics can deliver high quality CPR in every situation where CPR must be deployed. The board and residents at the meeting were presented by a demonstration of the device capabilities by members of the crew and the church outreach group presented their donation to the board. Our sincere thanks goes out to all those involved in this grant. By their actions, they have truely improved the odds of surviving a heart attack in our community. The unit is in service to the community currently. #ccclife
